Athanasius of Alexandria on Baptism

C.296 – 373 · GREEK FATHER

NO STANCE — AND WHY

No position located in this corpus

Searched in the sources read for this figure and not found. A limit of the reading rather than a claim about the figure — a source not yet read could settle it.

THE POSITION

Strikingly absent from On the Incarnation. The one place it could appear — his quotation of "except a man be born again" — he glosses as the soul recreated in God's image, with no mention of water or rite. Nothing on infants.

SCRIPTURE
JOHN 3:3 · BSB

3 Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
