THE POSITION
Nothing found on whether the fight includes commanding spirits to leave. In a 2024 interview he calls the church's yearly neighbourhood prayer walks "the kind of spiritual combat that overcomers do," and a 2017 tweet about the Philando Castile verdict, as Sam Storms quotes it, prays for "Holy Spirit breakthrough and the binding of this spirit." Both are prayer addressed to God, and neither settles the question. He calls himself charismatic, but that does not tell us whether he practises deliverance, and the cell is not assigned on it.

He is known for joining Reformed soteriology to openly continuationist practice, a pairing he has described as feeling like a theological orphan. This entry rests on his 2009 interviews and conference messages with Desiring God, a 2011 Tabletalk interview, his 2017 foreword to a book by Sam Storms, a 2024 podcast transcript, press reports of his sermons, The Explicit Gospel (2012, with Jared C. Wilson) as reviewers quote it, and his church's statement of faith, which is used only where a cell says so.
