STANCE

No, they ceased with the apostolic age

The Apostolic gifts are no longer in operation today, as evidenced by both the Bible (1 Corinthians 13:8, 12; Galatians 4:13; 1 Timothy 5:23) and the vast majority of the testimony of church history.

THE POSITION

Cessationist on the miraculous gifts and only those. He divides the gifts in two: the Apostolic gifts — tongues, interpretation, divine revelation, physical healing — have ceased, while the ministering gifts of prophecy, service, teaching, leading, exhortation, giving, mercy and helps continue. The argument for cessation runs through sufficiency: the Apostolic gifts' function is already fulfilled and they are therefore unnecessary, because Scripture is complete for knowing and obeying God's will.

SCRIPTURE
1 CORINTHIANS 13:8 · BSB

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be restrained; where there is knowledge, it will be dismissed.
