Matt Chandler on the millennium & Christ's return
Amillennial — the millennium is the present church age
I am most amil to anything else. Although I've got a lot of post mill sympathies.
THE POSITION
Amillennial, with sympathy for postmillennialism, in his own words when Ed Stetzer asked him directly in 2024. In the same interview he says Revelation's apocalyptic imagery is "mostly pointing backwards, not forwards" and calls the newsreel reading of it a development of "the last 150 years." He told CBN the same year that things will get better and worse at once until the Lord comes, like wheat and tares growing together. The quotation is from a machine transcript, which reads "most amil to anything else". That probably mishears "more amil than anything else", but it is left as transcribed.

ABOUT THIS FIGURE
Lead pastor of teaching at The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas, since 2002, and from 2012 president, later chairman, of the Acts 29 church-planting network. He is known for joining Reformed soteriology to openly continuationist practice, a pairing he has described as feeling like a theological orphan. This entry rests on his 2009 interviews and conference messages with Desiring God, a 2011 Tabletalk interview, his 2017 foreword to a book by Sam Storms, a 2024 podcast transcript, press reports of his sermons, The Explicit Gospel (2012, with Jared C. Wilson) as reviewers quote it, and his church's statement of faith, which is used only where a cell says so.
