Amillennial — the millennium is the present church age

THE POSITION

Commonly attributed amillennialism, alongside the substantially preterist reading of the Olivet Discourse he developed in The Last Days According to Jesus. His own recorded teaching does not bear the attribution out. In "The Millennium," lesson 12 of 12 in the Ligonier teaching series of the same name, he sets out the amillennial, dispensational premillennial, postmillennial and historic premillennial positions in turn without saying which he holds, notes that partial preterists — his own camp — are "most of them" postmillennial, and closes that the positions compete because of how hard it is to know what future prophecies refer to. Marked contested because the stance rests on the book's reputation while the lecture devoted to the question declines to choose; the book itself has not been checked.
